Susan H. Shearouse

Susan Shearouse is a Kunz and Company management team member and has provided expert training, facilitation, mediation, and technical assistance in negotiation and conflict resolution processes through her firm, Frameworks for Agreement, since 1990:

Training
As a trainer, Susan's dynamic style encourages participation, insights and personal growth. She designs and conducts a variety of interactive workshops and seminars that develop and improve negotiation, conflict resolution, mediation, facilitation, and ADR skills for various audiences. In addition, Susan presents effective distance learning programs using interactive video systems and one touch technology.

Facilitation
Susan facilitates group processes including task forces, teams, and working groups creating a safe place for difficult conversations and decision making. She also conducts long range planning and team-building retreats which enable organizations to create specific plans for future programs, reorganize office structures, and restore working relationships.

Mediation
As a mediator, Susan guides people in conflict to mutually acceptable agreements that resolve conflicts and problems. Her experience as a mediator includes contract disputes, community issues and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) claims. She is certified as a mediator, trainer and mentor for court-referred cases for the state of Virginia and serves as a mediator for the Washington Regional Office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the World Bank, the National Archives and Records Administration, and the Executive Office of the President.

Technical Assistance
As a coach, Susan assists individuals and organizations resolving conflicts and preparing for negotiations. She also advises large organizations designing and implementing alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes to prevent and alleviate conflict.

Ms. Shearouse's clients include:  Anheuser-Busch, Mobil Oil, General Electric, the United Nations, Sea World, the Library of Congress, the National Archives, the Federal Executive Institute, UPS, General Electric, Peabody Coal Company, the Internal Revenue Service, the George Meany Center for Labor Studies, the Navy, US Department of State, the Foreign Service Institute, US Department of Justice, National Association of Counties, the National League of Cities, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, Fairfax County, Federal Aviation Administration, US Environmental Protection Agency, the US Army Corps of Engineers, the Smithsonian, US Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Ms. Shearouse earned a Master of Science in Conflict Resolution from George Mason University in 1988, and was Executive Director of the National Conference on Peacemaking and Conflict Resolution. In addition, she has served as Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Specialist for the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service and as adjunct faculty in Georgetown University's MBA program and for the American Arbitration Association. She is on the Advisory Board of the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University and is a member of the Society of Professionals in Dispute Resolution.
